Alberto Contador will start off paddling at the Tour de San Luis in the year 2013 to start off afresh in the professional field after making a stylish comeback at the Vuelta a Espana last September 2012. He also hopes that his team can make it to Tour de France, the coveted tour for every pro cyclist He was flooded by journalists when he came to launch a brand new watch form the Time Force Watches Company in Madrid.
Upon questioning about Tour de France, he said that he might as well skip the tour if his team is not notified at the proper time when they can start making preparations. But he also made sure that he was not pressurizing the Tour officials for that. It is clear that Alberto Contador is aware of the fact that his team might get rejected from the renewal of their World license owing to poor rank (20th) in 2012.
The Spanish rider agrees that at least eight weeks are required to be fully prepared for a tour like Tour de France or Giro d’Italia. His wish of taking part in the Tour de France may be fulfilled this time because only last year, the Tour had announced that a cyclist can enter on a wild card slot even if his team does not qualify. This would give Alberto Contador a chance to show himself even if Saxo Bank-Tinkoff bank does not get the license.
This does not mean that Contador is going to eat up all the Tours. He respects the potentials of other teammates and perhaps for them he may miss out on all other tours and attend just one in 2013. He thinks that there are well others who can make it to the podium if given a chance.
